Home Inspections for Purchasing, Maintenance, and Improvement
Exactly the right inspection to protect you at every stage.
Component inspections are useful for providing an impartial opinion on the necessity of expensive maintenance, or replacement, of specific building components or equipment. Available inspections include:
- Roof Inspections
- Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning Equipment
- Masonry Chimneys and Fireplaces
Progress inspections may take the form of scheduled weekly progress reports, or milestone inspections. Inspections follow generally accepted practices for monitoring and reporting completed work, and verifying conformance to the National Building Code of Canada, National Plumbing Code of Canada, and Canadian Electrical Code: latest editions.
An energy efficiency assessment will examine the entire building envelope and yield specific information necessary to make informed decisions about retrofits and upgrades.
New home inspections are conducted to the same standard as pre-purchase and pre-sale inspections, by an inspector trained in new home construction, design, and building codes, that is able to identify potential failures in new materials and equipment. In addition to the standard home inspection report, a list of completion items may be included where construction is substantially completed, but not ended.
Both inspections follow the CAN-CSA A770-16 Home Inspection standard, which is a non-invasive, non-destructive examination of the condition of a home. This includes structural components; exterior weatherproofing; windows and doors; roof membranes; electrical, plumbing, heating, and ventilation systems; masonry fireplaces and chimneys; fuel burning appliances and equipment; stairs; lots, grading, and drainage; and garages/sheds.
